USBA is accepting new teams for 2023 season

The United SoftBall Association a Member of NSA Canada, located in Markham at Legacy park (9th line/14th Ave)

We are currently expanding our league and accepting new registrations.

Our Mens league commences in early May and ends in late September, with approximately 25 regular season games plus playoffs.
Most of our games are played on Sundays with a few Saturday games. Games are played at Legacy Park in Markham.
We offer a mid season tournament, home run derby, Allstar game and a year end award ceremony and banquet for all participants
We track full batting and pitching stats

All players must be over the age of 18 and abide by the rules of the USBA.

2022 Season Playoffs

2022 Playoffs Details:

Top 9 teams from overall standings make the playoffs. The criteria used for tiebreakers are: Points, Wins, Run Differential, Head to Head.
Teams ranked 10th to 16th will play in year end knock out tournament on Saturday August 13th, 2022. Winner of the tournament will get the 10th and final playoff spot.
Top 6 teams will get a bye in first round. All series are best out of 3.
Round 1: 10 v 7 and 9 v 8 - Sunday, August 14, 2022
Round 2: 8 v 1, 7 v 2, 6 v 3, 5 v 4 - Sunday, August 21, 2022
Players must have minimum of 11 games played to qualify for playoffs and year end tournament

2021 Season schedule and format:

Schedule:

18 Game schedule played over 10 weeks.
15 Teams will be split into 3 groups. Play your group opponent twice and all other teams once.
Each team will have a minimum of 4 games split between Early (9 AM, 10:30 AM), Mid (12,1:30,3:00) and Late (4:30,6)
Each team will have 8 weeks of 2 games and 2 weeks of 1 game each.

Some team will have 1 week where there will be 1 game gap between the double header

Playoffs:

Players must have 8GP
Top 8 teams make the playoffs
Playoffs start on Sept 26th (1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6, 4 v 5)

Semi finals Sat Oct 2, Finals Sun Oct 3

Games:

Please wait in your car if arriving early. Players should not gather around the field 10 mins before their scheduled game
No hand shaking after the game
If games are cancelled due to rain, they will be deemed as tie (There is no room this year for makeup games). Games are only cancelled if the fields are not safe to play or if there is lightning.
Please provide proper player names to statskeeper when giving your lineup. No nicknames are allowed!

FYI - Below is the update from town of Markham.

We are happy to inform you that the allocations department has now re-opened for booking requests. The City of Markham would like to thank you for your flexibility, patience and understanding during our temporary pause to services while navigating these challenging times.

The City of Markham is planning to open our outdoor sports fields for the 2021 season from May 8th to October 31st. Restrictions will continue to remain in place and your adherence to your sports Return to Play Protocols, Provincial Legislation, and City requirements will allow us to continue maintaining the health and safety of our community.

As part of our responsible and measured approach to reopening, we will currently be focused solely on booking regular season requests. Tournament requests will not be accommodated at this time.

We ask for your patience as our team continues to work to generate contracts and respond to inquiries on a condensed timeline. Currently, we are aiming to have regular season contracts distributed no later than Friday, April 9th to all regular season customers.

2020 USBA Season Cancelled!

To all USBA players,

We hope you and your families are all well. It saddens us here at the USBA to inform all of you that unfortunately due to the current and unclear future situation we are left with no choice but to cancel the 2020 USBA season.

We have exhausted ourselves working with the town to salvage the current season but to no prevail. Having said that, a glimmer of some softball being played this year is still something which could take place in the near future.

We will keep working with the town of Markham in the hope we can have a few tournaments before the Fall. We will notify teams if this is to come to fruition.

Please remain safe during this time and enjoy the remainder of the summer. We hope to see all of you on the field soon!

So far all permits are put on hold till June 1st. We are getting constant updates from the town of Markham and will have more information in the coming weeks to see if we can begin the season in June. USBA Banquet and 2019 Season Awards

Banquet will be held this Sunday February 23 2020 @

Please confirm list of all players attending the banquet no later then February 19 2020.

(Please remember minimum of 12 games is required to attend. If any players without the minimum games, or anyone wish to bring guests, the price will be $25 per person. Any player that does not not show up, a fine of $25 will be charged to each player and must be provided by the manager at the banquet. If payment is not given at the banquet, the team will have the amount outstanding on their team fees.)

USBA 2019 HR Derby and All Star game

We would like to congratulate the players from your team that have been selected to the all star festivities. It is always a tough choice to select players as every team has many players they feel should qualify.

We have selected players from each tier by way of AVG, SLG%, HITS and overall performance. The remaining players will be selected from the teams not yet represented.
